Before.... The old, deteriorating patio was in need of more than a face-lift! The finished height of the existing patio was built on top of original patio, which was very near the damp course of the house.

After.... Both the existing and old slabs, including the original screening-mortar was removed. The new brick facing wall, strengthened with a inner 'retaining' block wall, was installed with a damp course and moisture membrane sheet behind the outer brickwork skin. New stone paving slabs were laid using a random design, avoiding any unsightly 'cross-joints'!

The Project - Remove and Replace Existing Patio with a New Designed Installation.....

"A fresh design gave this patio more surface space.

All the colours and textures blended together very well, with a matching colour raised brick wall and random buff stone slabs complimenting the stone blockwork on the house.

The completed job, balanced the spacious house and garden with a bright new look"

"We are really pleased with out new garden, it will be so much easier to look after now we are retired. Moving the pond to just outside the kitchen window and enlarging it has really given it the wow factor!!! We now have a level area to sit out in and enjoy the summer.

Thanks again. Barry & Kath"

Winterton Garden Revisit............ 10 years on!

This was a garden, that I landscaped in 2006.

When I returned, the many shrubs, tree and hedge, had all matured and created a lot of work to keep it looking it's best. And, now that the Winterton couple had both retirement. They wanted more free time, to enjoy their new peaceful lifestyle, which is how retirement should be!

The new project (2016) required as much low maintenance as possible.

To retain the continuity of the front garden, (my 2007 project) I used the same slate chippings, covering the large expanse of ground, after removing the shrubs and low growing plants.

The Laurel hedge was removed, and replaced with an 'easy to maintain' low back fence, which opened up the back with a peaceful view overlooking far reaching fields.

The old tree was cut back and used to hang bird feeders from. It also provided a feature which helped to balanced the yew tree to the left and the water feature.

The back garden area is a raised grass cover bank contained by a block wall running the entire length of the back garden.

Rather than installing a raised patio with steps, we made the patio easily accessible and it gave better protection from the wind by cutting out a section and retaining the soil behind a brick wall.
